LIQUID COOLING SUPPORT | 1x 120 / 240mm 2x 240mm (requires side radiator bracket, sold separately) 240mm + 280mm (requires side radiator bracket, sold separately) Compatibility notes: dual radiator setups require a single slot GPU waterblock. Due to this limitation and build complexity, dual radiator builds are not recommended for inexperienced users. |
POWER SUPPLY SUPPORT | SFX / SFX-L (SFX-L not recommended with liquid cooling, custom cables are a must) |
CASE REVISIONS | – Two extra screw holes were added for v2.1 side fan + radiator bracket brace. This feature was added for dual radiator builds where the second radiator is mounted to the GPU side. – The power supply bracket mounting holes on this bar are now threaded. This allows the SFX bracket to install more securely. – The rear panel M19 holes are no longer threaded. – The GPU lock bars from v2.0 have been replaced with GPU lock brackets. These brackets allow for better GPU DisplayPort, HDMI clearance. |

For a gaming focused build with 7800X3D. Air cooling is the best overall option in our opinion. There is less restriction on GPU and no GPU heat exchange with the CPU, unlike with a liquid cooling solution.

The DDC pump was set to 1800RPM as these have a tendency to produce a high-pitched whine at higher RPM’s. The pump is powered and controlled by an Aquacomputer Quadro. Radiator fans were set to fixed/max speed of 50%. We undervolted the 13900K by 0.07V and tested at 253W, 180W, and 125W. These are just our preferences, and you can adjust the voltage offsets and power targets based on silicon quality and your own preferences. We installed two DIY power buttons + FormD case handle at the rear and USB-C at the front of the case. Gaming thermals were near identical across all tested wattages. We tried air cooling our 13900K with AXP90-X47 FC at 125W and was fine for multicore hitting 30,000 points, we weren’t happy running near 100°C TJMAX during gaming due to Intel’s high power consumption.

We encountered a compatible issue between the T1 and our LOBO CPU waterblock. The LOBO mounting screws protruded too far through the motherboard backplate. This can pierce and damage the riser cable as it did with ours. Modultra has confirmed this issue with some earlier LOBO units and the current revision uses shorter mounting screws at 31.75mm. You’ll need a custom GPU side radiator bracket or cable ties when using rear QDC assemblies, due to clearance issues. FormD is working on a solution. We found zip-tying through the Noctua fans and around the case struts works very well in meantime.

CONCLUSIONS
FormD T1 is widely considered one of the best small ITX cases and certainly one of the most popular. The case provides satisfying build experience and multiple configurations, such as air cooling, AIO and custom liquid cooling.
For those looking to take on custom liquid cooling, you should look towards Festo 8mm pneumatic fittings: NPQH-DK-G14-Q8-P10 (578377), NPQH-L-G14-Q8-P10 (578284), with 8mm tubing: PUN-H-8X1,25-SW (197392). Spacers may be required to reduce the fitting thread length for some hardware (radiator, CPU block etc), we suggest using Barrow’s 1.5mm mini spacers.
