BOX CONTENTS

The PSU chassis and cables are all black and use lead-free paint, with long enough cables for easy routing. SilverStone FX600 includes the essential motherboard & PCIe connectors, along with Molex, Floppy and SATA. There’s no included power switch this time like FX500, however the PSU will power down under no load scenarios.

NOISE PROFILE

SilverStone’s FX600 was progressively tested upto 600W for 25 minutes per cycle in 20°C ambient room temperature.

The FX600 power supply is cooled by 40x20mm Yate Loon D40BM-12C fan with max RPM of 7500. The PSU stays extremely quiet at/or below 420W and was reasonably quiet at 500W. The FX600 fan RPM and noise levels dramatically increase at 600W (100% load).

Fan replacement in SilverStone’s FX600 is for educational purposes only. The stock fan in the SilverStone FX600 can be replaced with Noctua’s NF-A4x20, which can support upto 420W (our recommendation). However, you must also take into consideration heat from your system or components as these can cause PSU to heat up aswell and ramp the fan to max speeds at lower loads, 300W for example. The Noctua fan will be incapable of cooling the FX600 in this scenario, as doesn’t move enough air at its max speed. Powerdraw above 420W may also result in your PSU overheating or longevity issues. Opening your power supply may void your warranty and strongly recommended not tampering with included PSU fans.

SUMMARY / CONCLUSIONS

The FX600 is excellent choice for Flex-ATX power supply and doesn’t suffer fan motor noise, like some other Enhance ENP-7660B units, thanks to the included Yate Loon fan. Molex and Floppy connectors are almost unused in modern small form factor systems, which is the target audience for FX600. The additional cables restricts airflow and makes cable management more difficult. We’d like to these cables removed or reduced to single cable/connector, or an alternative modular option in future, but understand modularity would increase unit pricing.
